what makes a mom happy

Have you heard that saying, "a mom is happy when her kids are happy"?  It is true, I am always happy when I see my kids happy.

Like tonight when I was at Evening of Excellence with Jessika and all the young women got up to sing.  The young women all looked so nice and cute and reverent up there singing, and then there was my cute little bug up there singing and making extremely happy and silly faces the whole time.   To some it may have been annoying but I was happy just knowing she was there and knowing she didn't want to sing but she got up there anyways and made it fun for herself.  I did mouth a few times stop it, but I winked and blew her kisses too and had a good laugh.  She is herself and that's what I love about her.   She makes me happy.

But, what made me the happiest as a mom tonight is.....
having a son who has lost 2 yes 2 expensive and horrible to sew patches on scout uniforms and has gone months without wearing one because I refuse to buy another and sew patches again, (phew that's a mouth full) walk up to me after scouts and hand me his lost scout uniform in one piece.    I cannot even count how many times I had checked the lost and found, asked scout leaders over and over if they found it and searched the house for that shirt and I came up with nothing.  Did I mention his name was on the  tag of the shirt?  All of that didn't matter anymore when I saw that baby walk across the gym towards me and land in my little hands.   I didn't have to drive an hour to buy a new one, I didn't have to sew patches on.   My waiting it out paid off!

 and that my friends
is what makes a mom happy.

both great successes. I would have killed someone over a lost scout shirt.

And I love that Jess.
