Ok I have been informed by my friend Valeen that I only need a 2 week supply of water. That should be alot easier to do with alot less UGLY blue barrels. I feel alittle bit better.
I also want to say Hurray for Valeen for finally commenting on my blog.

According to FEMA that is only 2- 55 gallon barrels for your family. I think it's one gallon per person per day.
Where are you getting the barrels? They talked about a stand too. Do you have the info on that?
You are correct Rachel. Try not to store all your water in one place. Don't assume you will be able to get to the place if you need it in an emergency so having water stored throughout your home is a good idea. A few bottle in corners of closets is a good thing. Do you remember in Katrina people in the attics or on top of their homes in the heat and they had no to get to food or water. Being able to grab a backpacks as you run is always helpful. You need to think of different emergency situations and see how you can plan the best for them. If you remember each of you children had old backpacks with a few days supply just in case we were separated or I wasn't home and you had to evacuate. Good time to do or check those packs is every general conference. But I had to check the boys more often because they would eat all their snacks. Just a few suggestions. Good family home evening projects.
actually your family should have 3 barrels. It's approximately 1 barrel for every 2 people. You should buy some cases of water bottles as well, in case you need to be on the move.
Yes, I have extra water barrels at my house since I got them at such a good price, and I am sure some of my neighbors will need too! I have found that since we drink a lot of powerade we just save the bottles and store them on my bookshelves! portable AND they are made out of PET material!!
If you go on the church website and check out provident living it gives you all the amounts needed in each area. 1 gallon a day per person should hold you. Do the math in your head.
