Big Girl

When I was growing up I never knew the luxuries of going to a salon and getting my hair done. My hair was always cut by mom and permed (I love perms) by my mom. My mom did awesome perms, especially for the 80's. Have I ever mentioned that I miss the 80's. Ok, so I even had a few hair colors from my oldest sister and lets just say those didn't turn out so hot. I remember french braiding my hair for school to try to disguise that it was pink. I don't remember if I pulled it off, but I like to think that I did. Now, growing up with 5 girls we never went to get our nails done at a salon, we just did each others. In fact, I used to think you only went to a nail salon if you were getting acrylic nails. I never knew you could go there to get your own nails cleaned and painted pretty. Since I have grown up and learned this little secret of salon life, which I am very fond of, my girls have learned it too. They love to go with friends to get their nails done. Now I don't pay for this luxury. They earn alot of money babysitting and if this is how they want to use it they can.

Today Samantha and TJ had no school. Why, I am not exactly sure. I don't think the schools even give reasons anymore. So anyways, TJ went to the shooting range with Thayne and Papa Denny. Samantha wanted to get her toes painted. So we went to lunch and then to the nail salon. When it was time to pay the lady looked at me. I looked at Samantha. The lady says, she pay herself. I said, yes she is a big girl and makes alot of money. The lady says, oh ok. Samantha paid and without my suggestion hands the lady a tip. Man she has this salon thing down at 13. I didn't learn it until much later in life. Samantha is just a cute little thing, and I mean little. I am just so proud of her. She is just so sweet and cute and I love that she likes to make herself pretty. A girl after my own heart.
