acceptance
I know I am old. We have already discussed this. However I am not quite sure how to handle this stage in my life. During the school year I am home all by myself during the day. I have done my best to keep myself busy and next year I am giving myself a schedule so I do a better job at managing my time. I would like to get a "keep me busy" job, but we will see if I actually do.
Well it is summertime and I thought for sure with the kids home all the time they would be bored and want to do fun things with me. Unfortunately I have to plan, beg and plead for them just to find time to go to the movies. They are all grown up with friends to play with and plans all the time. I have lost all control. I am just along for the ride now and I just need to not fight it and sit back enjoy. Not exactly what I had in mind, but I guess it is part of getting old.

Ahhh girls
There is nothing like the memories you make when
your cousin spends the night with you.
I will have to take a cute one. Not that this one
isn't really cute, just in it's own way.

39
I remember when I was about 18 years old. Really it wasn't that long ago that I can't remember that. I remember seeing people who were in their 30's and thinking they were so old and felt sad for them because they were no longer young but in the category "old" in my book.
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!
Yesterday I turned the OLD age of 39. I know on the outside I am looking older everyday, but on the inside I still feel 18. There are times when my girls are doing cartwheels and I think "I can do that" and then before I make the attempt I have to think "how do you do this again",
BUT I CAN STILL DO IT!
Old is just how you think. When you start thinking you are old, then you will be. For me I am young and loving it.
Thanks to everyone who went out of their way to make it a special day for me. My kids were so good making it a special day, I am so lucky to have kids that are so thoughtful. Wyatt kept asking me all day if I was having a good birthday, what a sweetie.
When I was getting ready to settle in for the night I heard the knock at the door and was pleasantly surprised to see the whole Hixon family singing Happy Birthday to me and had the cutest birthday cake and gifts in hand. What a perfect ending to a great day.
A different post will follow soon to document what else I did today.
My favorite thought of the day was something Thayne's grandmother wrote at the bottom of the card she sent me. She said...
"enjoy all your birthdays because that means you are still alive"
She should know she is in her late 80"s

never enough
You would think if you had 25 of anything it would be enough, right?
Not for my Horticulturist!
A few months ago he had this idea of a family trip to the nursery. He told everyone to pick out their very own tree. I love the idea of each kid planting their own tree in our yard so I was on board with this family activity. I have no idea what Thayne has in him that makes him love trees and plants and more yard work. Each kid and myself picked out fruit trees and Thayne found him self, not one but 3 cotton wood trees. He didn't stop there because after all the fruit trees were planted he went and got an orange tree for himself so we had a complete family of fruit trees. I would like to say that was it, but he has since planted 4 more trees in the yard. I don't want to sound grumpy about this because he is so cute about it and I love that he enjoys it, but he may be sad one day when I cut one of those suckers down to make baseboards for the hallway. Was that a subtle hit?
We did have alot of fun and I think the kids enjoyed picking out and planting their very own trees..
This child is just like his dad

TJ did not come out and plant his until after I was in the house so no pictures of him.
When I came out to plant my tree I found this hot guy
planting it for me. What a hunk!
So if you want to stop by in about 8 years we will have enough shade and fruit for everyone.
