new snack of choice

It just amazes me how Thayne has such an influence on me and the kids when he is not even home very much. Thayne has been working on getting into shape. When I talk to him he always tells me how he is getting addicted to these little babies...

Last week when he was home we went on a shopping spree to Costco. We did a big restock of alot of items we were lacking in our house. Well of course he grabbed a big bag of almonds. I saw that huge bag get placed in the cart and thought there was no way those would all get eaten especially since Thayne would be going back to Kentucky.

Well would you know that I had a small handful for breakfast today, a small handful for lunch
and with all the kids dipping their hands into the bag the bag is almost completely gone. Who new that if you left a bag of healthy nuts out it would become the popular snack.

sorry to bore you

I will try not to make the next few months of my blog all about football, but I am warning you now there will be plenty of football blogging going on here. Scrimmage games are Friday night with opening day Saturday. Our first real game will be Labor Day week and I am so glad Thayne will be home to see it. Here are a few pics from Wyatt's practices. I just got my camera back so I don't have alot but I will be getting a ton from his games. Also just a reminder to my family in Utah who follow Wyatt during football, the team website where I post all game pictures and for a great write up of all the games by Andy Ball is....

I am so glad his games are not at night because I still have not figured out how to get action shots at night without them being blurry.

togetherness

There is just something comforting in knowing that no matter what, without fail, no matter where we are going, the second we get in the car Thayne will grab my hand and hold it the whole way there.
I just ♥ him!

teach them when they're young

I am really not sure who to blame, or if there is anyone to blame. I am just thinking that if this is how you teach your child to mix when they are younger, then I probably should not complain when they do it like that when they get older and make a mess. Right?

I have this problem with this cute little boy who always wants to make cookies but always seems to make the biggest mess and never cleans it up. The last time he made cookies I told him he could never make them again because he makes a mess and always eats all the dough and there only ends up being 2 dozen cookies out of the whole batch.

Yesterday he asks to make cookies and PROMISES he will clean up the kitchen better than when he got in there. So I stupidly agreed.

Last night the kitchen had cookie crumbs all over the counters and stove and cookies all over the counter. There was only one dozen of flat crunchy cookies.

This morning this was our conversation. Keep in mind he thinks he is funny and being very sassy.

Me- TJ you still have a cookie mess to clean up.

TJ- where I don't see a cookie mess

Me- right there on the stove and the counter

TJ- I don't see any mess

Me- Well, I do!

TJ- Well I don't and if you do than you must be seeing things and going crazy.

After he went to school I went back to the kids wing of the house and found the empty cookie dough bowl sitting by the kids computer.

I am beginning to learn that things you do or don't teach your kids when they are little will come back and bite you when they grow up. DUH!

getting excited

I don't want to sound to excited, but I just got the email that my camera is fixed and I should get it in the next 4 days. Do you know what that means?

Just in time for the first football game Labor day weekend!

Change is good. right?

I would have to say that I can adjust well to any situation. I don't like change and the initial shock of anything new makes me a little crazy but then after letting it sink in I am ok and can handle anything. We have had a change in our lives. NOTHING BIG, except to Thayne and I when we were sucker punched with this change.

For the last 2 years of football Wyatt chose all by himself to be #70. The first year when he chose that number we kept asking him, "are you sure"? All we heard was...

I want to be #70!
so 70 it was

2nd year there was no question #70 again!

This year we were at the 1st meeting of the season where they pick the number they want. Thayne and I were standing there and the lady ordering the uniforms said what number and Wyatt said #13.

HUH? WHAT?

I think Thayne and I just stared at each other wondering if we heard the same thing. We must have asked him 10 times before we let her write the number down.

I was in shock thinking we would no longer have our little #70 running around the field but I was also thinking that I am going to miss a ton of pictures this year because I will be looking through my lens for #70 out of habit and I will miss #13 making a good play.

So here is to a good Football season with #13.

School is prison

Well the first week of school has gone pretty smooth. There always seems to be a ton of school supplies to buy after you already bought school supplies. Always running to the store for one last thing a kid needs for a class or they lose points. My kids all seem to be happy with their teachers. Yesterday Samantha came home from school and said "school is prison. They lock you in, give you a few breaks and feed you gross food and make you work". Sounds about right to me, but I still had no problem dropping her off this morning. Ü
