I have a craft room.
Only I call it my office or laser room. I should call it the wreck room because that is what it looks like most of the time.
The laser room is where all my magic happens.
My mind gets all giddy with fun ideas. Some ideas are better than others, but they are all fun.
Some of my best ideas come from my kids saying...
"it's my friends birthday can you make something?"
Why YES I can!
Today is Emily's birthday. Her mom just redecorated her room so we thought something simple and cute and personalized would be a good idea. I dug into my room of tricks and pretty soon
this plain piece of molding
turned into this.
I love this molding because it is thick enough so it stands on its own. No easel necessary! |
All I did was tape off the top half and painted the bottom half black and then scuffed.
Then taped off the bottom half and painted the top white.
Then with my handy dandy laser machine I cut out an "E" with mdf board and painted the "E" black, and then glued it on the top half of molding. Added a lil ***bling*** a Shazooow there it is.
Simple! The molding came just as you see it in the top picture so I did not have to cut anything with a saw.
Now this is where the bonus creative stuff comes in.
After I cut out letters with my laser machine I usually chose if I want to use the letter or the frame of the letter. I usually chose which will look better. So when I used the "E" I cut out I still had the frame to the "E" and I didn't want to waste it.
So....... I found a $.16 white 4x4" tile in my handy dandy room.
SEE ~
It was the perfect size to put the "E" frame on.
I painted the frame black and then added ***bling*** to match the molding project,
and this is what I ended up with.
These two projects took about an hour.
Molding was about $4.00 and tile was $.16.
Everyone has black paint laying around so you shouldn't have to go out and buy that. You should also have glue lying around.
I got the ***bling*** from the scrapbook section at Hobby Lobby.
I know not everyone has a laser machine to cut letters in any font they want, but you can still do this with letters you see at Michael's or Hobby Lobby or if you have a friend like me you can have me cut some for you.
If you are really lazy and not very crafty and you don't want to make it yourself call me and I will make it for ya, but it will cost ya! Ü
When Sam gave Emily her gifts I think she liked them because I heard a squeel of delight when she saw them.

What kind of machine do you have? What kind of material did you use for the letter? Really a great idea!
I love them. Do you post these on Facebook? I think you could make some extra cash for them.
