New Years assignment

I can't believe it is almost New Years already.  It got here so fast and
at times not fast enough.  I am so ready for a new year.
Now being realistic I know going to sleep Dec 31 and
waking up Jan 1st isn't going to erase 2010 like I would like it to,
but I just can't wait to leave 2010 in the past!!!!

Anyways this post isn't about my crappy year.

It's about my New Years Party assignment......

My sister has a New Years Party every year and it is for the whole
family.  Every hour on the hour we have an activity for all the kids to
keep them entertained until midnight.  This year she is sticking with her
theme of last year.  Celebrating New Years with other places around the world
at the same time they are.  You can read about it here.... New Years 2009!

This year I have been assigned Venezuela, Caracas.   I think I have some ideas
after reading alittle bit about the new years traditions they have, but I will wait and
post what I am going to do after New Years.  If anyone has ideas I would love to
hear them.

I also need to bring a dish that is something they would eat in Venezuela.  Sounds
like a stinkin pain in the butt huh?  Well I am of course looking for the sneaky
way around this whole food thing, and if you know me I will find it.

It's always a good time and the kids love it.  We have fun playing the adult games.
We all enjoying throwing confetti all over the Hixon home (so thankful it's not at my house) at midnight.
We blast horns and yell as loud as we can.  Drink sparkling cider and have
alot of fun until.......5 minutes after midnight when the clean up begins.
Clean up usually goes pretty fast unless someone like Thayne well it's always
Thayne who vacuums all the confetti with a shop vac and when it is full
he will shoot it back out into the air making a new mess to clean up.  The
kids love it, the moms not so much.

So here is to thinking of a Venezuela New Years..... wish me luck!

What comes to mind is lots of strong colors. Go to some second hand stores and see if you can find a plate or bowl for your food. Even stamping some colors on a plain plate would work. Find a missionary who has served there and question them. If I find something I'll pass it on. Sounds like fun to me.
