I knew when we moved to Queen Creek with alot of property my life was going to change.
When we lived in Simi Valley and my kids were young, Thayne would take my kids to the pet store all the time. One day we were driving in separate cars, me in one car and Thayne in the other. Thayne had all the kids with him. I saw his car make a detour into the parking lot of the pet store. I instantly called him from my cell phone and told him “do not bring home anything that did not come out of my womb”. That was always the deal. I told Thayne he could not have animals until he was working at home to take care of them. Well he got the opportunity and he was home for awhile and he really stocked up in the animal department. He bought horses, and chickens and turkeys and rabbits and cows. He is now back traveling with work. He has down sized quite a bit, but we still have more animals than I would like to take care of while he is gone. I will say I have been known to curse under my breath that I hate feeding animals when we can’t even ride any of them.
Thayne went out last year and bought a saddle and everything he would need to ride a horse. We knew one of our horses was broke at one time but we didn’t know how well. We have another horse that has had little training but not enough to ride. The other 2 are not ridable (not sure if that is a word) at all. Well all the riding gear has been sitting and waiting and waiting and waiting and WAITING.
This last Saturday was the test day and guess what. Bug (that is the name of our horse) wasn’t quite sure she was into having a saddle on after many years, but she warmed up to it pretty fast and we got to ride.
Wyatt was not really into it and took off to play, but the rest of us each took a turn and I think we are official horse owners that ride.

Ok we are going to have to come for a visit for Lo's birthday. She would love it!!
Very exciting! It is a strange concept - owning a horse and never riding it.
What a pretty horse! I am with you and the animals, I love the if it didnt come out of my womb! That is so funny!
You have made comments from time to time about animals and I just couldn't picture you with any, but now I've seen it. You are a brave woman to take care of them for your husband.
I don't understand, why would you have horses at all if you didn't ride them? Isn't that what they're for?
I can't help it... the thought of you birthing a farm animal crossed my mind... Great rule though!
Yes! It's great to see the fam finally riding the horses and it's good for the horses as well. They need the exercise. Now that may just Meg to make a trip.
I can not imagine going through all the work of taking care of horses and not even be able to ride them. Way too much work!!! Glad you finally got a little bit of a reward, but that horse owes you many more rides for all the work you have done for it :)
