That is Thayne's sign off when we hang up from talking on the phone. Usually after we realize we have nothing more to say, (well after I realize I have nothing more to say, he usually realizes it way before I do) we end our phone conversation something like this.
Me- BE SAFE
Him- I am always safe
Me- ok remember I love you
Him- I know, I love you too.
Me- I can't wait to talk to you tomorrow.
Him- I will call you throughout the day if I can.
Me- ok love you lots
Him- I love you too.
Him again- Peace out, Rock n Roll.
Click!
That is our daily routine and sometime we stray from those exact words but it is a routine we have. When Thayne says Peace out Rock n Roll I always smile as I hang up the phone. Today he called me from a little piddly airplane that he takes to get from town to town in Mexico. It sounded like he was very far away and in a wind tunnel, very hard to hear him. He was just calling to tell me he was safe (because I like to know he is) and he would call me tonight. We said our I love you's and he hung up. There was no Peace out Rock n Roll before the click. It was then that I realize how much that little phrase meant to me because I felt gypped when I didn't hear it.
